What is telehealth?

Telehealth is a way of delivering health care remotely. At Altimate Care and Services, LLC, patients interact with their provider via Zoom™. You use your smartphone, tablet, or computer to video chat with your provider rather than coming into the office for a visit. 

You can schedule your appointment at a time that’s convenient for you. Telehealth is an option if you live a busy lifestyle, have limited means of transportation, or want to avoid coming into contact with other patients. 

Why should I schedule a telehealth appointment? 

Telehealth makes receiving the healthcare you need convenient and accessible. Some telehealth benefits include:

What types of conditions can be addressed with telehealth appointments?

Telehealth appointments are best for your regularly scheduled chronic disease monitoring, medication reviews, analysis of test results, or some symptom evaluations. If you need blood tests or X-rays, your provider orders them remotely. Any prescriptions are sent to your pharmacy of choice during your telehealth visit so they’ll be ready for pick-up.

Following your telehealth visit, your provider may recommend you come to the office for a more thorough evaluation if you have symptoms that need to be evaluated in person.

What happens during telehealth appointments?

You’re given complete instructions on how to connect with your provider via Zoom at your scheduled appointment time. You discuss your medical history and any symptoms, questions, or concerns you may have. During a virtual physical exam, your provider can evaluate symptoms like pink eye or a rash.

You may need to report your body temperature and other health stats, like blood pressure or body weight. If you have recently had blood or urine tests or imaging done, your provider can also review the results and help you understand what they mean for your future health. 

Your provider makes over-the-counter or prescription medication recommendations. They also discuss lifestyle changes and education on your health condition to help you feel your best.
